Cookie Policy
In short: we only set cookies that the site needs to work (sign-in, cart, security) plus one small preference cookie. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever add optional ones, we will ask first.
This policy explains how CodeMercio uses cookies and similar technologies and takes effect on November 6, 2026. It should be read together with the Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Some are essential for the site to work; others remember your choices. "Similar technologies" include your browser's local storage, which works like a cookie but stays on your device and is not sent to us with every request.
Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
Session cookie (named after the site, ending in -session) |
Keeps you signed in and holds your cart, checkout state and messages | About 2 hours after your last activity | Strictly necessary |
CSRF token (XSRF-TOKEN) |
Protects forms and actions from forgery | Same as the session | Strictly necessary |
"Remember me" cookie (remember_web_...) |
Keeps you signed in on this device if you ticked "Remember me" or signed in with Google | Up to about 400 days or until you log out | Strictly necessary (only if you ask for it) |
Sale banner dismissal (sale_banner_dismissed) |
Remembers that you closed the sale banner | Until the sale ends, at most 30 days | Preference |
We do not currently set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not use third-party analytics. If we add analytics or marketing tools in future we will update this page and ask for your consent first where the law requires it. Because we only use strictly necessary cookies and one preference cookie you request, we do not show a cookie consent banner.
Third-party cookies
Payment pages hosted by Stripe or PayPal, "Sign in with Google", and the bot check on some forms (for example Cloudflare Turnstile, when enabled) are operated by those companies and may set their own cookies when you use them. They are governed by the providers' own policies, and they are needed for the payment, sign-in or security feature you chose to use.
Local storage
Your browser's local storage holds small interface items so features work without an account or between visits:
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Theme choice (light or dark) | Remember how you want the site to look |
| Favorites (when signed out), compare list, recently viewed items, recent searches | Provide those features on your device |
| Draft of a listing you are writing (Sellers) | Prevent loss of your work |
This data stays in your browser, is not used to track you across sites, and can be cleared in your browser settings.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, signing in, the cart and checkout will not work. Browser help pages explain how to do this for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
