Licenses
In short: you license an item, you do not own it. A regular license covers one end product that you or one client use. An extended license covers one end product that you charge end users for. Neither lets you resell, share or relist the original files. One license = one end product.
Every paid listing on CodeMercio has two prices: a regular license for a project you deliver, and an extended license for a product you sell. Your license is the permission to use the files, not ownership of them. This page is the license agreement that forms part of every order, together with the Terms of Use. It applies to orders placed from November 6, 2026; an earlier order stays under the version of this page that applied when you bought.
The grant
When your payment is confirmed, the Seller grants you, through CodeMercio, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, perpetual license to use the purchased item (and the updates described below) under the regular or extended license you chose, in one end product. "End product" means the single finished website, application, game server, hosted service, theme or other deliverable in which the item is used. "You" is the person or company named on the order; if you buy for a company, the company is the licensee.
- The license starts when the order is paid and lasts as long as the item's copyright, unless it ends under "Ending a license" below.
- You may keep backups, and use the item in development, staging and testing copies of the same end product.
- You may not sublicense, rent, lend or transfer the license, except as stated for client work below.
- The Seller (or the original author) keeps all copyright and other rights. Rights not granted here are reserved.
Regular license
Use the item in one end product. That end product can be a website, an app, or a single delivery for one client. You may charge a client for the project, but the end product itself is not sold to other people.
- One website for your own business, or one site you hand to one client, is a regular use.
- Installing the same item on a second domain or for a second client needs a second license.
- You may edit the code to fit your project. Those edits are for that project; they do not create a new product you may resell.
- Client work: you may deliver the end product to your client. The license then covers that client's use of that one end product. Keep proof of purchase and give the client a copy of the license certificate if they ask for it. You may not keep using the item for other clients.
Extended license
Use the item in one end product that you sell or charge for to end users. The item can be part of a hosted service, a theme you sell, or an app with a price. Your customers are buying your product; they do not receive a license to the original item and cannot take it out of your product.
- A membership site or SaaS you charge for needs the extended license.
- A theme or template you sell to many customers needs the extended license when the item is built into it.
- The item must be a part of a larger product with real added value. You may not sell the item on its own, even with small changes.
- One extended license is still one end product. A second product you sell needs a second license.

What neither license allows
- Redistributing, sharing or relisting the item, or a lightly changed copy, on CodeMercio or any other marketplace, repository, forum, Discord server or file-sharing site, free or paid.
- Sharing your download or any license key with someone who has not bought a license. The license belongs to the purchaser.
- Using the item as the main value of a competing template, script or marketplace product, or offering it in a "starter pack" or bundle.
- Using the item or its files to train, build or sell a dataset, model or tool whose purpose is to copy or re-create the item for others.
- Removing the author's copyright notice where the author has kept one in the source.
- Using the item in unlawful products, or implying that the author or CodeMercio endorses you or your product.
- Using any logos, names or trademarks that appear in the item beyond what the item itself needs (see "Third-party material").
Some listings are open source and say so; the open-source license named on that listing applies to the item in addition to what is described here, and where it gives you more rights it prevails for that item.
Source code and no copy protection
Many items are delivered as readable source code without DRM, license-key checks or tracking. That makes the item easier to use and modify, and it also means the license is based on trust. Not enforcing a restriction technically does not mean it is allowed.
Third-party material
An item can include or work with material owned by others, such as open-source libraries, fonts, icons or stock images, and can be an add-on for a third-party platform or game. Those parts keep their own licenses and trademarks; this license does not replace them, and you must follow them. Product and platform names are used only to say what an item works with. See "Third-party software, trademarks and independence" in the Terms of Use.
Updates
A license includes the updates the author publishes for the version line you bought, for as long as the author keeps the listing current. You can download the latest version from your purchases. The changelog on the item page is the record of what changed. New major versions may be offered as a separate listing or upgrade at the author's discretion. Updates are covered by the license you bought.
Support
Support is provided by the author and is described on each listing and in the Support and Installation Policy. The default support period is 6 months from the date of purchase, unless the listing says otherwise. Support does not cover installation on your server (unless you bought the optional Installation Service), customization, or third-party software. CodeMercio does not promise a support desk the author did not offer; the Refund Policy explains what happens when an item does not work as described.
Your license certificate
After purchase, your account contains a license certificate for each item showing the order number, the license type and the date. Keep it as proof of purchase.
Ending a license
A license ends if the order is refunded or charged back, or if you seriously or repeatedly break it, for example by sharing or reselling the files. When a license ends you must stop using the item and delete your copies. If it ends because you broke it, that includes copies in end products you delivered or sold. We may also remove access to downloads, and Sellers and CodeMercio may take legal action and ask hosts to take infringing copies down under the takedown procedure.
Warranty and liability
The item is licensed "as is" by the Seller, subject to your statutory rights and to the limits in the Terms of Use and Refund Policy.
Questions
If you are unsure which license fits, write to us through the contact form and name the item. Our answer is guidance, not a change to this license; ask the author for a custom license if your case is unusual.
