Spawnhall — Game Server & Community Block Theme — A WordPress block theme for game-server communities, clans and streamers: copy-IP join hero, server cards, rules, staff, ranks, events and patch notes as ready-made patterns.
Spawnhall gives a game server, clan, Discord community or streamer a complete WordPress site you can publish in an afternoon. It is a true block theme: you edit everything in the Site Editor with the standard blocks, with no page builder, no shortcodes and no required plugins.
The pieces a game community actually needs ship as patterns: a join hero with a copy-the-address button, server cards, how-to-join steps, a rules accordion, staff cards, rank and store tiers, vote links, an event schedule, a patch-notes timeline, a leaderboard table and a Discord call to action. Eleven of the 59 patterns are complete pages, and a one-click demo import builds a full fictional network ("Nightfall Network") so you can see every page filled in before you change a word.
What you get
- 59 block patterns in 10 categories, including 11 complete pages (home, servers, store, events, rules, staff, patch notes, about, support, contact and a launch landing page)
- Six full style variations you switch in Site Editor > Styles: Midnight (default), Ember, Verdant, Nebula, Daylight and Frostbyte, plus six colour palettes and four font pairings you can mix
- Join hero with a copy-the-address button (a tiny keyboard-accessible script, loaded only on pages that contain the button)
- Three header and three footer layouts, including a header with a copy-the-address button and a community footer
- Ten templates: home, blog index, single post, page, wide page, page without title, blank landing page, archive, search and 404
- Custom block styles: Glow, Ghost link and Copy IP buttons; Notched, Pixel frame and Glass groups; Pixel sharp and Framed images; Check mark and Arrow lists; Chat bubble quotes; Dashed separators; Eyebrow headings and paragraphs
- Original scene illustrations, 16 pixel avatars, 31 icons and a logo mark, all drawn for this theme (no stock photos, no game assets or logos)
- Five bundled open-licence fonts (SIL OFL) served from the theme itself: no Google Fonts requests, no CDN
- Lean front end: no jQuery, no bundled plugins, about 2 KB of JavaScript, light CSS
- Accessibility work built in: skip link, landmarks, visible focus, keyboard-operable menus and accordions, reduced-motion support and a contrast audit of every palette pair
- One-click demo content (WordPress Importer) with a menu, 13 pages and 8 posts, plus demo images that attach automatically
- Translation ready: text domain spawnhall and a .pot file with all strings; HTML documentation and a readme included
How it works
Pick a look. Open Appearance > Editor > Styles > Browse styles and click one of the six looks. Colours, fonts and shapes follow along. You can also mix a colour palette with a font pairing under Styles.
Build pages from patterns. Add a new page, open the block inserter, choose Patterns and pick a category such as Spawnhall: Heroes or Spawnhall: Full pages. Every pattern is plain core blocks, so you edit text, colours and layout like any other content.
Import the demo (optional). Install the free WordPress Importer, import demo-content/demo-content.xml from the download, and the theme sets the front page, posts page and main menu for you. Replace the fictional Nightfall Network text with your own.
Add your server address. Edit the join hero, select the button that shows the address and type your own. Visitors click it and the address is copied to their clipboard. Use the header variation with the server address if you want the button on every page.
Swap header, footer and templates. In Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Template parts open Header or Footer and use Replace to swap in another layout. Templates are editable in the Site Editor as well, and Global Styles control colours and type site-wide.
Not included (so there are no surprises)
- Live server status or player counts. The theme has no query or ping logic; use a status plugin or embed in the spot the status pattern leaves free.
- Tournament, match or league management (custom post types), forums, membership, store or billing integrations such as Tebex or WHMCS.
- A hosted live demo. The gallery comes from a private test site; the bundled demo import lets you build the demo on your own site.
- Multilingual demo content, RTL polish, and Cyrillic or Greek glyphs in the bundled fonts (Latin and Latin Extended are included; the fonts fall back to your system font for other scripts).
- A dark-mode toggle for visitors. Dark and light are style variations you choose in the Site Editor.
- A Customizer, shortcodes or a page builder. This is a block theme and does not use them.
Install in minutes
- Unzip the download. The file you upload is theme/spawnhall.zip, not the whole download.
- In WordPress go to Appearance > Themes > Add New Theme > Upload Theme, choose theme/spawnhall.zip, then Install Now and Activate.
- Optional: install the free WordPress Importer, then Tools > Import > WordPress and choose demo-content/demo-content.xml. Do this on a fresh site.
- Open Appearance > Editor > Styles and pick a look.
- Open documentation/index.html in your browser for the full guide to patterns, header and footer layouts, the copy-IP button and translation.
What is in the download
- theme/spawnhall.zip - the installable block theme: templates, template parts, 59 patterns, 6 style variations, fonts, icons, art, readme.txt, license.txt, credits.txt and a .pot file
- demo-content/demo-content.xml - the optional demo site (WordPress Importer file)
- documentation/index.html - a single-page guide with install steps, demo import, variations, templates, every pattern, block styles, translation, FAQ, credits and changelog
- INSTALL.txt, license.txt (GNU GPL v2 or later) and credits.txt at the top level
How it was tested
- All 59 patterns were inserted one by one in the block editor of the final build with zero invalid blocks and zero console errors.
- A browser test matrix (Microsoft Edge via Playwright) loaded 132 pages across the six looks at phone, tablet and desktop widths with zero console errors, zero horizontal overflow, zero broken images and zero axe-core WCAG 2.x A/AA violations in 66 scans. WordPress ran with WP_DEBUG on and logged no notices.
- Theme Check (the WordPress.org review plugin) passes. PHP_CodeSniffer with the WPThemeReview standard reports no errors; the three warnings are a high posts_per_page limit in the one-time demo importer (twice) and a note that the WooCommerce stylesheet is minified.
- The WordPress Theme Unit Test data (125 edge-case URLs, 250 page loads) loads without console errors, overflow, broken images or PHP notices. Ten axe-core findings remain on that test content: colours hard-coded inside the sample posts, images without alt text, cover blocks with role=img, legacy caption markup and a navigation block inside post content.
- Lighthouse in a local lab (Microsoft Edge, XAMPP, no cache or CDN): accessibility 100 and best practices 100 on four demo pages, SEO 91 to 92 (block themes do not add a meta description by themselves), performance 100 on desktop and 80 to 99 on throttled mobile (the busy home page is the low end). Your numbers depend on your host.
- WooCommerce shop, product, cart, checkout and a test order were exercised in the lab with no console errors, overflow or axe violations (styling only; no custom WooCommerce templates).
- The checks above were run against a fresh WordPress that had the final release zip installed and the demo imported. The WooCommerce check ran on an earlier build of the same theme and could not be repeated on the final zip.
Licensing and credits
The theme source is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later (see license.txt), as for every WordPress theme. What you buy here is the packaged, supported release: the download, updates published on this listing and author support through the marketplace.
- Regular — one end product, for your own site or a single client site, where end users are not charged for access.
- Extended — one end product you may charge customers for, for example a paid community site or a client service you resell.
These marketplace licence terms describe who the support and update entitlement covers. They do not take away the rights the GPL grants you.
Fonts: Space Grotesk, Inter, JetBrains Mono, Pixelify Sans and Fraunces are bundled under the SIL Open Font License (licence texts included). Icons, pixel avatars, scene illustrations, the logo mark and demo images were created for this theme by Fernwick Studio and are released under the GPL v2 or later. No stock photos are used. Full credits are in credits.txt.
About the screenshots
The gallery shows the theme running on a private test site with the bundled fictional demo ("Nightfall Network"), not a public demo. There is no hosted live demo for this theme; the bundled demo import lets you build the same site on your own WordPress.
